Review : I will start off by saying I do NOT enjoy reading anything other than sci-fi & fantasy novels. Mostly because I have a hard time focusing on instructional/educational material (though I wished it otherwise) I find it very dry. When this book was assigned in a weekly leadership meeting I set my expectation low that I would get nothing out of this book just from my past struggles reading this type of material. I was thrilled that the book stomped those expectations into the ground and soared high above. While I do think there a few too many examples, the methodology behind 4DX was exactly what I, as a first time manager, needed to get inspired and excited to lead my team to set standards, processes, and get our accounting department in the state that it needed to be in. It challenged my team and in turn they challenged me by questioning things that needed to be changed and how I proposed to go about it. We were able to have better dialogue because they were comfortable talking through things that would and would not work, whether it was due to GAAP compliance or some other reason. this book has allowed me to read other non-fiction to better myself and my career and I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. Not just someone who is management or looking to become a manager, even for those lower on the company totem pole. It taught me to become a better employee and inspired me to challenge myself by raising the bar on my work ethic and performance.
